Discover the region
Away from the coast the salty smell of the sea mingles with the odour of pine cones, eucalyptus, rosemary and thyme. The mountainous inland, dotted with olive, cork-oak and umbrella pine trees, is perfect for day-trips by car, by bike or on foot. For example, starting at the mountain village of Monchique, you can climb up to Foia, which is the highest point in the Algarve, at 902m it offers a magnificent view of the Algarve coastline.
Monchique, Silves, Sagres and Cape St Vincent, the most south-westerly point in Europe are also worth a visit. For guests seeking a more lively spot, we recommend Lagos, which has a wide selection of bars, restaurants and shops allowing you to shop and enjoy yourselves well into the night.
